This large open patio home replaced a dilapidated tight dark house previously on the site. An open roofed outdoor living room, retracting glazed walls, an expansive central courtyard, stone fireplaces and columns, and extensive terraced landscaping helped settle this building into its wooded setting.
The fine workmanship of the construction, performed as a labor of love by the Owner was notable. An open kitchen, coffered high ceilings, custom lighting, Venetian plaster, well-placed skylights and inlaid rich wood floors make this home exceptional.
This high-end salon in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow neighborhood began as a neglected, warren-like low storage basement. The walls were stripped to the studs, extensive mechanical and service areas were constructed, and a sleek, glittering space was inserted.
Continuous stone counters, adjustable display lighting for the ever-changing art shows, custom hair cutting equipment, and quirky furnishings help keep this business flourishing.
Originally built as a 440 sq ft cabin, with several unfortunate later additions added over the years, this house was a disorganized, poorly built, shambling affair. To correct the problems, the upper walls were removed and extended to provide a high continuous ceiling throughout. Small rooms were reconfigured to make larger spaces, and an organizing circulation ‘spine’ was created to unite the various pieces.
A new second story master suite with lovely views of the forested Oakland hills now completes this craftsman style house.
This complete renovation of an existing hillside house included the insertion of a skylit open stair to tie together previously isolated levels. Bedrooms and baths were constructed in an unused (but fortunately tall) basement. A wide Greatroom with its new modern kitchen became the center of family life, and an expansive fine steel deck opened the house to sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay.
Ongoing restoration of this large vital religious complex continues. Coordinating timely repairs and maintenance of roofs, pavements, flooring, sheathing and fenestration is combined with new construction and landscaping projects. A 35’ glass awning is part of the new work.
Preparing this Queen Anne house for sale required the complete restructuring of the house. Extensive seismic upgrading was needed. A new stair with openings for views and light, a new master suite with a glass tiled bath, a new white kitchen with custom appointments, new windows and doors, and a landscaped terraced garden improved the tired old house, and allowed an early and easy sale of the property.
One of two similar steel-hulled 300’ fishing boats built in Norway and fished in Alaska. Work included design and specifications for the galleys, messes, lounges, walk-ins, sculleries and other interior spaces of these large commercial vessels.
Improvements to this century-old house included the installation a European and unapologetically modern kitchen. A large clean spa-like bath replaced a musty old bathroom, and many other improvements brought the creaky old structure into this century. A simple modern garden will be installed in a later phase to extend the living space outside.
In this Napa project the low flat roof was removed and replaced with a long high barrel-vaulted roof that extends beyond the house and into the garden. A new colorful and open kitchen stands under a large skylight within the barrel-vaulted space.
Work on this hillside garden with its expansive Bay views centered on interplanting many new species for texture, color and variety. Active beehives, a shady gazebo, fencing, tilework and many trees were installed.
This 100-year-old house was hydraulically lifted 3 feet higher to allow the conversion of an unused dirt-floored basement into finished living space. This doubled the conditioned area of the building, and changed a little ‘2-and-1’ bungalow into an updated 4-bedroom/3-bath family home. A new sunny stairway, a large deck, a new but traditionally styled kitchen, two working fireplaces, and ample additional storage made this house more valuable and more livable.
